Clarity and Chaos

“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace”

1 Corinthians 14:33, KJV

The mind is a solar system in its own right. In it the planetary rings of what we value and prioritize orbit around the metaphorical sun and literal center of it all, that being, the conscious experience of reality. In this heavenly system, Order and Clarity go head and toe every moment against Chaos and the Void.

Consciousness is like the sun in another fashion. It has storms that surge out from it. Stars of every sort have solar flares that generate solar winds of astonishing power and devastation. The solar flares from our own sun have, at times, messed up the power grid on earth due to the ionizing effects they have.

Still, for all of the power that solar winds and flares have, they do have a beautiful side, for by them humanity lays witness to the phenomena called the Aurora Borealis, and the Aurora Australis. When the particles from the solar winds hit the magnetic poles of the earth some of the particles get trapped there and we see a beautiful display of plasma and light.

In this cosmic play of light, a beautiful metaphor of the dynamics of clarity and chaos can be found. It is one of position, and one of perspective. As the subconscious parts of our souls speak out from their inner depths of knowledge and instinct, the rays thereof are felt by anyone and anything it effects. As humans, we have the unique, and albeit limited ability to see out from our hearts, and also look into our hearts, as a satellite looks at planets in the solar system.

If we go too far past the field of familiarity we run the risk of being burned when we don’t have to be. If we don’t venture out at all; however, we will never see the colors of our own Auroras play on the canvas of observation, experience, and of our lives.

One has to be willing to go where the soul searches for meaning and significance. There is a verse that is fitting towards this end. “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” — Proverbs 4:7 KJV. Even hundreds of years ago someone had the right idea.

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”

Proverbs 4:7 KJV

It is also written in James 1:5 that God gives wisdom freely, and without viewing the seeker of it in disdain. In the sacred space of the heart where He does live one can dwell there, and find the proper middle ground, in Him, between Clarity, and Chaos. In His strength, you WILL find your weaknesses. In His wisdom, you WILL find your limits. As long as you abide in the all-sufficiency of God you WILL always see how insufficient you are on your own. BUT…

If you can humble yourself, and let Him start to join you in the galaxy of your soul; however, you will find more than sufficiency, as you rest in His clarity, find His order, find His peace fill the void in your heart, and find Him dancing with you in His playful chaos. You WON’T find a God who is aloof, cold, and distant if you honestly explore the nature of his being that he inscribed on your heart. He is the Son of the universe, and the “sun” of all life, and light. =)
